Bob Menzies appointed to lead Cambridgeshire transport project

Bob Menzies, the man who led the development of the area's guided busway, has been appointed to lead the Ely bypass and Chesterton station projects.
According to Cambridge-news.co.uk, Menzies will take up the position of head of major infrastructure delivery, working with Cambridgeshire County Council. This is despite the busway development encountering many problems under Menzies' direction.
The so-called "transport guru" is said to be extremely "excited" about the two construction projects. Chesterton station's creation in particular will have a great impact on the area, as Unclogcambridge.com said could create "enhanced access" to railway lines and will provide additional services to Ely.This could be great news for those who are involved in Cambridge lettings or business owners in Cambridgeshire, as it may encourage more people to visit the area.
Menzies believes that both developments will provide a "tremendous boost" to the wider Cambridgeshire economy. Given that the local council's executive director for economy, transport and environment, Alex Plant, said Menzies did an "exemplary job" on the busway construction, it seems he is the perfect person to lead the projects.
"These projects are different [to the busway operation]. They are still major projects, but it's a bit easier to deliver a station because people have done that many times before, instead of something never delivered before on that size and scale," Plant concluded.
